If you have a job you love, then you'll understand why David Hill began Hillside Music in 2004. He loves making music and enjoys sharing his talents with others, hoping they'll find joy through the piano and keyboard lessons he teaches.

About David

Although David has had a number of different jobs, the work he has given most of his life to has been teaching. Prior to starting Hillside Music, David worked for twelve years as a school teacher, serving both overseas and within the United States.

David grew up in a musical family and acquired a love of music early in life, playing the piano for church functions even as a teen. Over the years he has tinkered with a variety of instruments just for fun, but the piano is definitely his instrument of choice. He took piano lessons for a number of years, with his final lessons taking place at the college level. He has continued with self-learning throughout the remaining years.

For some time, David longed to teach music, specifically piano lessons, in a one-on-one setting, but the opportunity never seemed possible. In 2004, several years after moving to Tennessee, he felt the time was right and began Hillside Music, a family business located in Goodlettsville, TN, where he provides music education as a piano teacher for children and adults.

In addition to owning and operating his own studio, he also serves as the church pianist for New Chapel United Methodist Church in Springfield, TN.

David also enjoys composing and arranging music. He arranges many of the songs his students use during their piano or keyboard lessons. He also has arranged a number of recorder and tonechime pieces for use within a classroom or family setting.

Since 2006 he has written more than 200 songs for the children's Bible class his wife Melinda helps with at church. In 2010, he began a new website, SingBibleSongs.com, to make these new songs available to others, in the hope that people will be encouraged to fill their hearts with God's Word. He views his songwriting abilities as a special gift, and hopes to bring praise to God through this new endeavor.

Melinda is the office manager at Hillside Music. She is the voice you'll hear on the phone when you call during the hours David is teaching piano or keyboard lessons. She is also responsible for designing and maintaining our two websites, HillsideMusic.net and SingBibleSongs.com.
